Welcome to the 45th annual Dormouse Night!
Dormouse Night is a traditional open-air ethnological event that introduces visitors to the ancient tradition of dormouse hunting in an engaging and immersive way. The event invites you to socialize, discover local customs, and experience the heritage of the Notranjska region firsthand.
Join us for an event that takes young and old alike on a journey through tradition and fun. Join us on this autumn afternoon, at 2.00 PM we’ll start with the running competition. We’ll continue with a cultural program. Throughout the event, a rich children’s program will take place in the large clearing, where children can try their hand at both physical and creative workshops, and there will be plenty of educational activities as well. The event will be hosted by Beno Peček and Manca Mele.
You can also take a peek into a real marten trapping camp, where trappers from the Loška dolina and the surrounding area will demonstrate marten trapping and related skills; there will also be a market featuring local products, where everyone is sure to find something to their liking.
Selected food and drinks will be provided, and on this day, the Dormouse museum in the outbuildings of Snežnik Castle will also open its doors wide, offering special activities with free admission.
