THE LAND OF HAYSTACKS is a collective BRAND NAME of the Lož valley municipality.
It is used for promoting the municipality, geographical region and for marketing merchandise and services on the geographical territory of the brand name.
Haystacks have traditionally been an important accessory of agricultural economies and have largely influenced the image of cultural landscape. The method of drying certain agricultural products and hay by means of haystacks has been a prevailing custom. One farm has set up to a couple of hundred haystacks in the mowed meadows. Loško polje (The Lož valley field) has thus become the land scattered with Ostrnice. In modern times haystacks have been, due to economic reasons, fewer and farther between. They now represent an aesthetical element in gardens and a source of inspiration or admiration for artists and painters in particular. Above all, haystacks have become testimonials of a close connection between man and nature, which also depicts products and services that carry the brand name THE LAND OF OSTRNICE.
The brand name THE LAND OF OSTRNICE is a sign composed of two elements: the inscription THE LAND OF OSTRNICE and a graphic depiction of two haystacks. Both elements are used together as one image. The brand name is kept in the register of brand names of the Republic of Slovenia Bureau for intelectual rights under the register number Z 2009 7 1128. It was registered in the year 2009 and its graphic images was refreshed in 2014.
The owner and trustee of THE LAND OF OSTRNICE brand name is The Public Institute Snežnik, thus responsible for managing and marketing it, for attributing or taking away the right for its usage, assuming control over its usage and managing a register of users.
The brand name links together the merchandise and services of the Lož valley municipality and hence provides them with better recognizability. It is used as general or individual:
promotion of the geographical area of the Lož valley municipality
promotion and/or marketing of products and services that emerge in the municipality's territory
promotion of the providers of the area
