The Hunting Collection and Dormouse Museum at the Snežnik Castle opened to the public in 1980. The collection comprises the trophies of indigenous game of the Snežnik-Javornik massif and Lake Cerknica. The Dormouse Museum boasts an original display of the life and the hunt for dormice and their use for commercial and food purposes long ago and today. At the museum, one can learn about the traditional hunt for dormice, an activity first mentioned in this region back in the 13th century and still carried out today.
