Ostrnice (haystacks) are an agricultural accessory, made of the lopped-off tops of pine or fir trees, skilfully covered with semi-dried clover, hay or sheaves of wheat. They were particulary numerous in the past during mowing time, when the majority of the Lož valley was scattered with the sight of them covered in hay.
The collective brand name of the Lož valley municipality is therefore named The Land of Ostrnice.
