Lož valley was densely populated as early as the prehistoric times due to its strategic position. The abundance of prehistoric, antique and medieval occurences contributed to the existence of numerous archeological sites, Križna gora hilltop and Ulaka (ski slope nowdays) being the most significant ones. The oldest found artefacts originate from the Late Bronze Age and from the beggining of the Late Iron Age.
